Skin Lightening: The Repercussions on POC

“The Revolution Will Not Be…”  is a 3rd year design communication project that is based around a social, political, economic, issue. I am a graphic designer that will be creating a design project that focuses on Skin Lightening: The Repercussions of POC. I wanted to create this project due to my knowledge on Skin Lightening products and how it makes women feel inferior, especially in the Philippines – my cultural background. This study has benefited me as a designer and a learner through educating myself about the historical context of Skin Lightening and using these elements from my topic to create a design around it. This was important to me as it enables POC to have a voice, to give power to those who are undermined. Along with this, allowing readers to become educated around this phenomenon – especially those that are uneducated about this topic.
